How to Remove Wrinkles

Are you one of the few who think that wrinkles are a sign of your experience and wisdom or do you fall into the other group of those who think wrinkles suck and would rather not have any? Well then read on to discover how to remove wrinkles.

The beauty industry is a billion dollar business as people from all over the world seek to maintain youthful appearances. This is evident everywhere you look, such as in books and magazines, on billboards, and on television to name a few places. There are overflowing shelves in major retailers of beauty products claiming to contain “the fountain of youth” or to be able to provide you with “younger looking skin”. There is always a new “best” anti-aging or anti-wrinkle product so much so that it’s enough to overwhelm you.

With many of the thousands of these types of products available there are many that promise “the moon” but grossly under-deliver on those promises, and most of them aren’t cheap either. On the contrary, there are some excellent techniques for how to remove wrinkles available, you just need to know how to look for them.

As we age our skin shows the effects of being exposed to too much sunshine, too many toxins, for example chemicals in the products we have used to clean our homes or cars, or simply allowed to come into contact with our body. The natural process of aging causes a reduction in the production of two important things which determine how our skin looks. These two elements are collagen and elastin which work together to give our skin its structure and tone. Once you hit age 30 you start to notice the changes in your skin as you produce less and less of these.

Here are some other things that promote wrinkles so you want to avoid these at all costs;

1. Smoking – smoking causes your skin to thin out which contributes to wrinkles or aging prematurely

2. Sun Exposure – oddly enough a suntan is always said to make someone look healthy and younger but in actuality it is not a good sign at all. It is a sign of damage being done to your skin

3. Fake Tans or Tanning Beds – these should be avoided at all costs. They have been proven to cause cancer for one and for two, they cause premature wrinkling of your skin

So how to remove wrinkles if you’ve avoided the above yet still have some that bother you?

You could opt for medical treatments which include things such as;

1. Alpha Hydroxy Acids (including glycolic and lactic acid) – these have been used as skin rejuvenating products for a multitude of years and now you will find that they are mentioned as ingredients of some of the latest skin care products such as masks, toners, cleansers and moisturizers. While effective you will not see dramatic changes using this method.

2. A common acne treatment of using Vitamin A acid has also been effective in the correction of wrinkles and sun damage done to your skin.

3. Ordinary moisturizers – some moisturizers reduce the appearance of wrinkles without being specially formulated as a treatment for wrinkles

4. Chemical peels – many people have undergone this treatment. There are 3 levels of chemical peels; superficial (generally take around 15 minutes but usually have to be repeated over a period of time in order to get the desired effect), medium peel (The procedure lasts up to one hour, and the patient may feel a slight burning or stinging sensation during the treatment.

Again this may need to be repeated to get the desired results) ad the deep peel (This is the most intense of the 3 types of peels. This procedure can take up to two hours for a full-face peel, and patients commonly experience swelling of the eyes so require someone to care for them for at least 48 hours after the procedure. The side effects of this treatment are much more severe and can affect the person for as much as two weeks.)

5. Antioxidants – antioxidants are believed to protect cells from free radicals which cause havoc in our bodies including leading to cancer. You may not realize it but many of the elements you’ve probably heard of already are considered to be antioxidants, such as Vitamins A, E and C, beta-carotene and lycopene to name a few.

6. Dermabrasion – I will say nothing more than this is a method of controlled surgical scraping of your skin that scrapes off layers of skin. It can provide you with an excellent improvement, however you may also experience negative side effects like changes in your skin color or scarring.

There are other methods used as well, including facelifts, browlifts, eyelifts, laser resurfacing, and the well know botox injections. We’ll do just about anything to ourselves to remain looking young won’t we?

Patients should fully educate themselves about the risks and potential benefits of the procedure they are considering before moving forward.

My preference would be to find natural methods of improving the look of my skin, and there are many worthwhile things you can do that are not only natural, but affordable as well and have no harmful side effects.

1. Water – drink plenty of pure water to hydrate your body (and skin)

2. Healthy diet -full of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and the use of healthy oils such as olive oil and coconut oil. Eat foods high in omega 3 fatty acids such as salmon as often as you can.

3. Facial massages – keep the blood circulating properly while relaxing the muscles of your face

4. Avocado facial – place slices of avocado on your face allowing the oil to activate increased oil production in your skin as well. There are also other fruit that can be applied to the face that help, such as cucumbers.
